The sun in all its radiance
and every stormy night
is held within the compass
of our Creator’s sight.
The one who stretched the heavens
who gave the wind its course,
is worthy of our worship;
is God to be adored.

We do not know the limits
of wind or crashing wave.
We cannot govern nature
or curb Creation’s rage.
We only know our future
is safe with one whose power
is strong enough to hold us
in death or danger’s hour.

To all who fear life’s turmoil
or sink beneath the tide,
the One who sees each sparrow
still calls us to his side.
The God who came in Jesus
to rescue and atone
is standing at the seashore
and calls you to come home.

Tune: Penlan (In heavenly love abiding)

This was a commission from the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) at Rock, North Cornwall, UK. It was part of a service to mark the station’s 10th anniversary.
